About Kedarkantha Trek
Kedar Kantha Trek is a classic winter trek, perfect for those who are
in love with snow. This four days trek has its base camp is at Sankri
Village, which takes 7-8 hours of travel from Dehradun. This wonderful
trek offers a great experience to the trekkers with a trail though rich
forests, snowy tracks, patches of green meadows and some beautiful
scenic views all the way. Kedar Kantha Peak is located in Govind
National Park of Western Garhwal, surrounded by a number of panoramic
river valleys, snow-laden mountains, remotely located small villages
with a rich flora-fauna. It is one of the easiest treks in Himalayas to
experience the snow covers. Winters snow here sets in the middle of
December and lasts till the middle of April. Snow will come across after
crossing the height of 10,000 feet and the campsites of this trek
boosts magnificent beauty.
The drive from the base camp of this trek (Sankri Village) to Kedar
Kantha is one of the most panoramic and picturesque drives in Himalayas
which takes you through Mussoorie, Naugaon, Purola, Mori and Naitwar.
The snow covered path and the patch of meadows will give you a perfect
glance of the Himalayan Crown. Silent and soothing streams with peaceful
lakes will treat your hard trekking tiredness, giving you a feeling of
being in mother's lap. If you know skiing, that's even better. It will
help you to get the glance of the heavenly landscape from a good height.
Rich forests lamented with snow will give you a pleasant experience and
sooth your eyes. Humbleness of the regional people will impress you
completely.
Designated to be the residing place of Shiva, the ancient Hindu Lord,
the land really looks like heaven. Silence and tranquility of the place
will give you such a feeling that you will shy to whisper even. The
cosmic sky view, with the sky-knocking peaks will make you feel at least
once, that you are on the roof of the earth. There are many
mythological stories surrounding Kedar Kantha. It is believed that the
temple Kedarnath was originally located here, but while disturbed by the
villagers, Pandavas went away from the place to the present Kedarnath
location. Local people believe that the place is the residing place of
the lord, still now.

Best Time to Visit Kedar Kantha Trek
April to June (Summer) and October to March (Winter)
In Summer: Mild weather prevails throughout the
summer season. During this time, one can see the clear view of the
neighbouring mountains.
In Monsoon: One should be brave enough to face all
the challenges if planning to trek during the monsoon as the roads
remain blocked due to landslides. It will be little strenuous, but the
scenic view of the mountains is worth all the effort.
In Winter: From the start, till the end, the trail
remains covered with snow, thus, the trek becomes little difficult. Trek
looks the best during winters, and indeed, the trek becomes more
difficult. Carrying heavy woolens is advised.
Where is the Kedar Kantha?
Kedarkantha is a mountain summit, which is standing tall at an
altitude of 3850 m in Garhwal Himalayan ranges. The peak can be reached
during any time of the year by crossing Govind National park. One
trekkers reach the summit, they will be rewarded with the view of
beautiful peaks like Swargarohini (6,252 m), Bandarpunch (6,316 m),
Black or Kalanag (6387 m) and Ranglana.

Kedar Kantha Trek (Detailed Itinerary)
Day 01: Delhi – Dehradun - Mussoorie
Take an AC train for Dehradun at 06:55 hrs from New Delhi Railway Station. On arrival at Dehradun by 12:40 hrs, here meet our representative and transfer to Mussoorie by road. On arrival at Mussoorie check in to hotel. In the evening, visit the market of Mussoorie and roan near Mall Road. Overnight stay in a hotel in Mussoorie.Day 02: Mussoorie - Sankri (Drive 200 kms)
Post breakfast, we shall drive to Sankri, which will take about 6-7 hrs to reach Sankri. The drive is through Mussoorie, Kempty Fall, Nainbagh, Purola and Mori. On arrival at Sankri, we will set out our camp for an overnight stay.Day 03: Sankri - Juda ka Talab (Trek 4 kms) 2850 mts
Today, we will start our trek up to Juda ka Talab from Sankri. The trekking trail has several small ponds on the way to Kedar Kantha. One can witness the majestic snow-capped Himalayan Peaks. We shall pitch our tent here for an overnight stay.Day 04: Juda ka Talab - Kedar Kantha (Trek 7 kms)
After the breakfast, we shall trek to Kedar Kantha. The trekking trail is adorned with flowers, lush green meadows and waterfalls. Dinner and overnight in tents.Day 05: Kedar Kantha (3850 mts)
The day is for exploration of Kedar Kantha, one can attempt summit. Dinner and overnight stay in tents.Day 06: Kedar Kantha - Sankri (Trek 11 kms) - Dehradun - Delhi
In the morning, we will trek back to Sankri. From here, we shall drive to Dehradun. On arrival at Dehradun, we will board the Mussoorie Express at 9:15 PM for Delhi. Overnight journey.Tour & Services End.
