About Dayara Bugyal Dodital Lake Trek

Dayara Bugyal, the renowned trekking spot in Uttarakhand is also famous for its religious merits. This wonderful trek starts from Barsu village which is located an altitude of 1350 metres and is at a distance of 30 KMs from Uttarkashi via road. The route of the trek starts from through the village where local inhabitants can been seen in their day to day life. The first campsite of the trek is Barnala Meadow, where there are Nomadic Settlements in 5-6 huts.

Above this campsite is one beautiful lake called Barnala Tal. The slopes here turn into a lovely skiing track for the skiers in winters. The trail ascends through beautiful pine forests to reach Dayara Meadow where the natural scenic beauty is at its best. Walking on the carpeted meadows with excellent views of Himalayas is really an exotic experience in itself. Camping in tents next camp site Lambi Dhar really shoots up the adrenaline. From Lambi Dhar is the way to valley floor through dense forest of bamboo and oak. After crossing the river Dodigad, comes the beautiful Dodital Lake. This camp site has a temple of Ganesha and some guest houses to stay.
The gorgeous beauty of the lake compels nature lovers to stay for more days here. The lovely view of the Bandarpunch Range from the spot is added with a 360-degree view of the Himalayas. The Dodital Lake is full of rare fishes and Himalayan Golden Trout's. The lake is surrounded by pine forests with the Darwa meadow towering on one side and the open wide valley on the other is really awesome. Yamuna Valley and Hanumanchatti are the last two sites of the trek which are known to offer a great experience at the end of the trek.

Where is the Dayara Bugyal?

Perhaps the most beautiful Bugyal, Dayara is a located in the Uttarkashi district of Uttrakhand. Perched at an altitude of 3340 m, over an area of 28 sq km, an easy trek or drive from Barsu village can help one to reach Dayara Bugyal. Amid the lush Bugyal, one can also see the turquoise blue Barnala Lake, after Dayara the trek goes to Dodital lake and end at Sangamchatti.

Nearest Railhead: Haridwar Railway Station, 245 km from Barsu Village, is the nearest railway station.
Nearest Airport: Jolly Grant Airport in Dehradun is the closest airport which is 235 km from Barsu village.
Road head: Uttarkashi is well connected by the road from major town of Uttrakhand like Rishikesh, Dehradun, Haridwar, Mussoorie and Delhi



Dayara Bugyal Dodital Lake Trek (Detailed Itinerary)

Day 01: Delhi – Haridwar - Rishikesh
In the morning transfer to Delhi railway station and take an AC train for Haridwar at 06:50 hrs. After arriving in Haridwar meet our guide and transfer to Rishikesh, check into your hotel. Evening time is free for leisure activities. Overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 02: Rishikesh – Uttarkashi (195 kms/5-6 hrs) - Barsu
Have your breakfast and leave for Uttarkashi (1150 m). This 6 hours drive will take you through the course of narrow streams of Ganga Valley and later by the Bhagirathi river valley. Reaching Uttarkashi and after lunch drive 30 kms to Barsu. As soon as we reach near to the beautiful village Barsu you sight the spectacular views of the Himalayan Range.

Day 03: Barsu - Barnala Bugyal (3040 metres) - Dayara Bugyal (12 kms/6-7 hrs)
Today, after having wholesome breakfast we will begin the trek Dayara Bugyal after a demanding ascend through thick forest of Rhododendron and Oak. Sporadic clearings in these forests present beautiful glades, copious in a broad variety of blossoming wild flowers. From here this region the mountain Draupadi Ka Danda is persistently visible.
In this region you may come across the various "Chhanis" - summer shelters for cattle grazers. The trek further goes up above the tree line on the extensive alpine meadows of Dayara Bugyal. At such a high altitude the tree life is almost meagre here, but you might see some adapted variety of Juniper and Pine trees in the region. Also, you can this extensive meadow is covered with many different types of blooming flowers. After reaching at this sprawling you can see of some magnificent views of the spectacular backdrop. The locals here believe that the Bugyals are abode to fairies and angels, therefore it is not allowed for them to take any intoxicants. Arrangements made for dinner and an overnight stay in the camp.
Day 04: Dayara Bugyal - Nimdhar (16 kms/6 hrs)
It is a long day, we will start today with a well planned 16 kms long trail on an extensive meadow, this the way of the trail you can see spectacular views of the astonishing Himalayan range. The pinnacle of Bandarpunch is emphatic amid others. The trek continues and stretches beside the crest towards the North side of Dayara to you finally reach to the campsite located at Nimdhar. Arrangements made for dinner and an overnight stay in the camp.
Day 05: Nimdhar - Dodital (3307 metres) (16 kms/6 hours)
Today the trek involves many exhilarating activities. The trail will at first move downwards into the valley passing through a dense forest of bamboo and oak. Afterwards we will transverse the river named Dodigad, as this river comes from a lake Dodital. Following this a steep climb followed by the gradual track that leads finally towards Dodital. At Dodital there is a stunning emerald lake near the temple of Ganesha, which you can explore on this day of the trek. It is an outstanding campsite and also there are several guest houses for overnight stay. Arrangements made for dinner and an overnight stay in the camp.
Day 06: Dodital – Darwa Top (4150 mts/5 kms/ 3 hrs) – Dodital Lake
Early in the morning after breakfast get ready for trek up to Darwa Top with packed lunch. The trail to Darwa top is 5 kms up hill and which can be negotiate in 2-3 hrs. Today we will trek through a thick birch forest opening into the high meadows below the Darwa Pass. From the top of Darwa Pass one can witness the stunning views of Bandarpunch and Swargarohini range of peaks. After exploring the area trek down to Dodital Lake and have a ship of tea with snacks. Overnight stay in Dodital in tents.
Day 07: Dodital - Agoda (2280 metres) (15 kms/4-5 hours)
The trek today an easy one, we will today hike downhill that will take you to the campsite at Agoda. This moderate trail proceeds across the stunning forest surroundings and some mountain hamlet, the customary shelter of the local shepherds for summer. Arrangements made for dinner and an overnight stay in the camp.
Day 08: Agoda – Sangamchatti - Rishikesh (7 kms Trek, 185 kms Drive/6 hrs)
This day trail starts with a descent that passes from the captivatingly settle village of Agoda with colourful terraced fields, cultivating variety of corps with its verdant picturesque Splendor that offers a wonderful eye pleasing views to the visitors. After reaching on the Sangamchatti road head, located near Asi Ganga, you will board on your vehicle that will drive you down to Rishikesh through Uttarkashi.
Rishikesh is well-known as the town of saints and Sadhus and has many historical temples and ashrams. The two lynching bridges Ram Jhula and Laxman Jhula are considered consecrated and are of great significance in Rishikesh. The famous Triveni Ghat is the venue of holy Ganga Aarti ceremony, it is a must place to visit where the numerous devotees offer thousands of oil lamps and chants of the holy hymns that adds a further spiritual significance of the place. Later in the day you can explore the town and be a part at the Aarti at Parmarth Niketan. Overnight stay in hotel.
Day 09: Rishikesh - Delhi
Early in the morning transfer to Haridwar railway station and from here catch AC train for Delhi at 06:10 hrs. Arrival at Delhi by 11:45 hrs.
